Who’s the Best Boss You’ve Ever Had?

How to do it:

  • During your next team meeting or in your digital channel, use this prompt: “Bosses have the power to influence how their employees turn out. Since working with a good boss is a huge deal for many people, I’d like to challenge you to remember one – Who’s the best boss you’ve ever had, and what makes them so memorable?”
  • Show everyone how to do it! Describe the best boss you’ve ever had and how they impacted your life—using as many details as possible.
  • Encourage interaction as the team responds – make comments, reactions, or ask follow-up questions.
  • Bonus: If the person you’ve described is your current boss, let them know! Just like employees, bosses need to feel appreciated too.

Why it works:

  • This activity helps us develop a sense of appreciation for bosses who’ve influenced us positively.
  • Discussing what makes each boss memorable helps us identify the qualities that make a good boss—and encourages us to be good bosses too!
