As one of the largest companies in the U.S., with a workforce covering over 50 communities nationwide, Express Scripts is a very diverse organization. They know firsthand that helping all employees feel included, connected, and engaged is not easy. To combat these issues, Express Scripts uses Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to connect employees with similar personal or professional experiences. Formed in 2014, the ERGs serve as an organizational tool for these employees, and provide them a platform to speak about issues and events important to their respective groups.
With ERG members spread across the U.S., Express Scripts wanted to provide each ERG with a centralized environment where they could network and share information with speed and ease. Due to Express Scripts’ large size, members in the organization’s ERGS often come from different departments—occupying starkly different job roles—and may not know one another. Express Scripts sought to break down these barriers of communication and cultivate camaraderie amongst group members.
Partner with Bonfyre to organize digital communities for each of Express Scripts’ six ERGs. ERG leadership were also provided with four exclusive Bonfyre communities to communicate and plan strategic initiatives. The ERG Bonfyre communities placed an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, encouraging employees to build personal connections with group members regardless of location.
Bonfyre became an indispensable tool for ERG members. Participants actively use the platform to connect and share pertinent information with one another. As of December 2016, Express Scripts ERGS have seen high levels of engagement across the board:
- 44,000+ Bonfyre community opens
- 99.5% of people visited the communities of the total number invited
- 3,500+ total chats, photos and videos shared
- 4,500+ likes
- 59.7% participation by posting or liking content out of the total who visited the communities
